Vigil marks one-year anniversary of restaurant raid, ICE deaths
A memorial of flowers, candles and 39 tombstones stood in the snow at PEACE Park in Cleveland Heights on Jan. 26, honoring those who died in U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement custody or were shot. Cleveland Heights for Immigrant Rights, a grassroots movement, organized a candlelight vigil to commemorate the one-year anniversary of when ICE raided Cilantro Taqueria, a restaurant on Euclid Heights Boulevard in the city.
Protesters denounce City Club speaker's 'fascist hate'
The City Club of Cleveland hosted a Q&A forum with Aaron Baer, president of the Center for Christian Virtue in Columbus, on Jan. 16, 2026, attracting around 50 protesters who were upset at the club for inviting Baer. Baer and his organizations have sparked criticism because the Southern Poverty Law Center has labeled CCV as an anti-LGBTQ+ hate group.
